Chapter 8: Haunting Memories

Davisville was a place that held mixed memories for me.

During our fraught journey, Raphael had been arguing that we should take Casey to the hospital and get him urgent medical attention.

Donatello had advised against this course of action, saying that communications would be compromised. The Foot had access to resources and would be tracking any hospital for new admissions. Raphael was getting angrier by the second, glaring over at Donatello and glancing at Leo with a baleful expression.

Leonardo had sat with me quietly, taking in the heated conversation between his brothers. His arm was draped loosely around my shoulders and he looked weary. I had never seen him look so tired before and, although he did his best to smile reassuringly at my worried expression, I knew he was in pain.

There were cuts and bruises all over his skin. All were scabbing over but I shuddered to think of him taking those injuries without any complaint. It was part of his intensive ninja training, to block out pain and suffering so he could focus on the task ahead but it was very disconcerting. I wanted to clean him up, bathe the wounds, but he held me still as we continued our journey to my old hometown.

Finally, Leo made the decision that cut off the conversation completely. He had decided not to try the local hospitals for fear of Casey being more vulnerable to Foot attacks. Instead, we were to act as a medical team or even surgeons if necessary.

As the brothers carried the unconscious Casey into the derelict house, the rest of us trailed behind in silence.

I was then tasked with obtaining medical supplies from the pharmacy. Taking the trailer, I drove as fast as I could without being pulled over. Mikey had hidden in the back and was talking me through what supplies we needed.

The pharmacy was only a fifteen minute drive into the centre of town and I left Mikey to grab everything I could from his extensive list.

The pharmacy was quiet. I was the only customer frantically moving from one aisle to the next grabbing bandages, antiseptic, gauze, paracetamol, band-aids and lots of other less familiar tools that would help Donatello. I scampered around, found all the medical supplies we'd need and took them up to the counter.

"Wow, someone's had a bad accident!" The pharmacist looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"Just stocking up the medical box," I replied curtly. Impatiently I waited as the pharmacist lazily put each item through at an infuriatingly slow pace.

"This looks like a job for a hospital!" The pharmacist glowered at me. "Are you new in town?"

"I grew up here." I shuffled uncomfortably from one foot to the other. "I went to school here as a kid."

The pharmacist paused briefly and looked at me with a curious expression. Only now did I finally take notice of the woman in the white uniform. She was around my age, blonde and very, very familiar.

"Do I know you?" The pharmacist asked.

I looked at her name badge and almost recoiled in shock.

Sheila Stocks.

"No," I mumbled. "I really am in a hurry."

Sheila huffed and continued to put the items through. Ringing up the total on her till, I fumbled for my debit card and handed it across. I prayed she couldn't see my shaking hands.

"Enter your pin number." Sheila tapped the small device and I did as she asked.

The receipt took a moment to come through, and when she passed it over, she paused thoughtfully. "I'm sure I know you from somewhere."

I grabbed the receipt and goods before she could say anything else. Fleeing from the shop, I practically ran over to the trailer.

Mikey took the bags of supplies from me and noted my reddened face. "Everything okay, babe?"

"Sure. Nothing's wrong. Get these to Donatello." I started to walk away from the trailer.

"Where you going, Gia? Leo told me to keep an eye on you." Mikey shifted into the driver's seat and looked at me with a strange expression, clearly uncomfortable.

"Don't worry. I'm just going to get some groceries and essentials! We might be holed up at my old place for a while …. I'll catch a cab back to the house." I chuckled at Mikey's over-protectiveness. I had been with Leo the whole time and he hadn't asked Mikey to keep an eye on me once.

"I can wait." Mikey said. I could see he was torn between getting back to the house and staying with me.

"I'll get a cab, Mikey. Get that stuff to Donnie." I rolled my eyes at him and he gave me a last confused look.

"Are you sure everything's okay? You look like you've seen a ghost …" Mikey pressed me gently, waiting for my response.

"I'm fine, really. Just go! Casey needs this stuff. I'll be back in a couple of hours." I walked away from the trailer and didn't look back. As I heard the engine start, the vehicle began to roll away and I snuck a quick glance back to see Mikey still watching me cautiously. Waving him away, I continued to walk towards the main Walmart; stopping behind a corner to catch my breath.

Out of Mikey's line of sight, I slithered down the wall and broke into furious sobs.

Sheila Stocks.

That name brought back a flurry of unpleasant memories.

For most of my time at secondary school, I had been the victim of a gang of girl bullies.

Mean and relentless, they taunted and teased me; threatening me with violence. Although it had never descended into the physical, the mental abuse they had tortured me with for years remained raw and exposed.

I sat with my legs curled under me and took a few breaths trying to calm myself. When my breathing evened out, I walked briskly across to Walmart and began to fill my trolley with essentials. Bread, butter, milk, toilet paper, body wash, toothpaste along with a multi-pack of brushes …. I carried on mindlessly filling the trolley until I reached the checkout in a haze of partial awareness. I paid for the goods in a subdued state and then realised I had been far longer than I had told Mikey.

Leaving the store, I was about to walk to a payphone to call a taxi, when I saw the trailer parked in the lot, suspiciously vacant.

"I thought I told you to get that stuff back to ….." Leo opened the trailer door rather than Mikey and smiled down upon me. He must have switched places with his brother and come looking for me. Relieved at his presence, I wheeled the trolley around to his location. Bags upon bags of groceries and essentials began to fill the space inside.

"How much did you get?" Leo asked in an amused voice.

"Enough to keep us going for a while," I shrugged. "Why are you here? I said I'd catch a cab!"

"Have you been crying?" Leo asked, his nostrils flaring as he smelt the emotional changes in me. He finished packing the trailer neatly and then slid elegantly into the driver's seat. He gestured for me to get in beside him.

Sighing, I put my trolley back and then eased myself in to the passenger seat. "No, just been a rough day. I'm fine."

Leo nodded but didn't say anything more. We drove back to the house in silence.

I was fighting my tears again as we travelled back to the house. Leo drove carefully, his nostrils flaring occasionally and finally we arrived. It was a hellish journey trying to keep from crying all the way and I breathed a sigh of relief as he pulled up slowly. I undid my seatbelt and prepared to bolt from the trailer.

Suddenly, I was enfolded into his arms and I felt the floodgates open. He merely held me tightly as I sobbed away and buried my head into his shoulder.

"It's been a rough day for all of us," Leo admitted. He kissed my heated brow gently. "Why don't you try and get some rest for a while? It will be hours before we know anything more about Casey."

I nodded, breathing in his musky smell as I pressed against him wantonly. "Good idea! I need a nap."

"Is there anything else?" Leo pressed gently. "Did anyone hurt you?"

I shook my head. "No-one hurt me! It's just hard being back here …. old ghosts and all that."

Leo nodded, knowingly. "You would tell me if someone had hurt you, right?"

I nodded sadly. "Of course."

Leo looked unconvinced. "Then why aren't you telling me everything?"

I gasped. He had an uncanny knack of seeing the truth, even when the truth was so difficult to say. "I saw someone I used to know in the Pharmacy …."

Memories flashed to the forefront of my mind. Being shoved against the locker in the shower room and being threatened with gold sovereign ringed fists. The class jeering and applauding her as she made me feel as if I was two inches high. My confidence had taken a severe beating and I only just realised how much she had hurt me. Years after the event, it still felt like she had been bullying me recently. They were memories that just wouldn't fade.

"You saw someone you used to know? Someone who did bad things to you?" Leo was gently trying to pry the truth out of me. He was still holding me tightly, his body taut with tension.

"I was bullied as a young teenager. Like lots of other kids who didn't quite fit in." I shrugged. "I need to get over it. She can't hurt me anymore."

"It still hurts, though. The fact that she got away with it. Is that right?" Leo kissed my forehead gently. "Did you tell anyone?"

"Teachers knew what was going on," I sounded bitter. "They just didn't make waves. I think some were even frightened of the bullies. I never confided in anyone because I knew there would be nothing done about it."

"You should have spoken to someone about it!" Leo was sounding bossy again and it irked me. When had he ever felt exposed by bullies? He had never had to worry about that in his life.

"Yes, you're right ….. but I was a child, Leo. I was scared and lonely. I didn't know what to do!" I pushed away from Leo and sat for a moment, trying to compose myself.

Leo put an arm on my shoulder and squeezed gently. "I can't imagine what you went through. I'm sorry, Gia."

I felt the tears coming again and tried to ignore them. "We'd best get back inside and put the groceries away."

We carried in the bags in silence, leaving them on the kitchen table. Unwrapping the food and storing it away in the cupboards, I suddenly felt Leo's arms wind around me from behind.

"Are we okay?"

I felt the tension flowing through his body. He was on edge and I was being distant with him. I didn't mean to be, but I was having difficulty dealing with the situation.

"We're good." My fingers curled around one of his green arms and I kissed his skin gently. "It's just been a weird day. We got blown up, travelled hundreds of miles, almost lost Casey and I bumped into a familiar, but not forgotten, face. What else can happen in twenty-four hours?"

"I'll resume your training as soon as possible," Leo mused. "It is dangerous for you to be in our company without learning to defend yourself."

Suddenly, Leo's arms drew tight around me. He hugged me close and I felt uncertainty radiate through him. "Someone's coming up to the front door."

I turned around and faced him. He was glaring out of the window at someone walking up the driveway.

"Leo, hide!" I urged as the figure became clearer.

It was Sheila. What the hell was she doing here?

Leo blended into the furniture like a shadow. He remained in the room with me as I walked over to the front door and opened it to receive my guest. I stood in the doorframe as Sheila walked up to, before finally stopping, in front of me.

"I thought it was you! I've brought you a houseplant to welcome you back to the area." Sheila thrust a small plant in my direction. "I'm not sure what it is, though."

"Thanks." The tremor in my voice was irritating and my word came out as a harsh gasp.

"I hope we can be friends. A lot happened when we were younger. I was a … different person then."

I nodded at the carefully chosen words. I could still see the malicious child she had been. Her words seemed to carry an undercurrent of spite and her eyes appeared shifty. She was after information. Probably wondering why I had returned after so long.

"Thanks for the plant, Sheila. I'll see you around." I smiled a little and closed the door.

I gazed at the plant before me. Poor little life wouldn't get very far with me looking after it.

"She's gone now."

I looked up. Leo was at the window, watching Sheila leave, nostrils flaring.

"Why do you do that?" I asked.

"Do what?" Leo turned and gazed at me, his arm resting on the window frame.

"Flare your nostrils. What does it mean?" I walked towards him and allowed him to scoop me into his arms and hold me against his plastron.

Leo smiled, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief. "I was picking up her scent. Everyone smells different. Distinctive body odour help us identify others without having to see or hear them. Useful for a ninja."

"What did she smell like?" I asked, curiosity peaking.

"There was something off about her scent. Bodies give off chemical signals. We interpret them as smells that we can identify intention. Her smell indicated malicious intent. Who was she?" Leo brushed his beak against my forehead as I softened into his arms.

"Her name is Sheila. She was a member of the gang of girls who used to hassle me at school," I explained.

I felt Leo stiffen momentarily as he processed this new information. "Let's go check on how Casey is doing."

Taking my hand firmly within his own, we ascended the staircase and found the majority of our company in the main bedroom. Mikey and Raph were sitting by the window attending to minor injuries on each other. The supplies I had bought from the pharmacy were littered around the inert figure lying lifeless on the bed.

April was sitting by his side, her hands caressing one of his larger ones gently. She was trying not to cry while Don and Splinter had formed a sort of mutant medical team. They were assessing Casey's injuries as he lay silently, trying to form a plan.

"How's he doing, Don?" Leo asked. His voice was clear and unwavering. He remained strong, even though his heart was breaking. This Casey was very important to them all.

"He's taken a nasty knock to the head, Leo. We've got him stabilised as best as we can but only time will tell." Don tiredly turned away from the prone figure and he glanced out of the window. "Who was at the door?"

"Just an old …. friend." I stood back to allow easier access to and from the main bedroom. "She's gone now."

"We should all get some sleep," Leo nodded towards his siblings and Splinter. "Get our heads down for a few hours. Let our bodies heal."

Leo led me to a smaller bedroom at the far end of the corridor and closed the door to give us privacy. He stood there, staring at me, his eyes absorbing my tired state.

Then, he opened his arms.

I rushed into his embrace, feeling his strong arms wrap around me as we sank to the worn carpet as one. There was no bed in this small room, just a small dresser that was falling apart. The curtains were full of holes and looked as threadbare as the rest of the house.

Nuzzling into his neck, I buried my face into his shoulder muscles, sighing as his hand brushed my hair with caressing fingers.

"I love you, Leo!"

Stiffening, I wondered if I had confessed this too soon. We had only known each other a short while and I didn't want to upset the relationship that was developing by rushing things.

I needn't have worried. Leo gripped me more forcefully, his arms holding me tightly to him.

"I love you, too." He whispered.

We remained there, bodies entwined for a while.

His body heat was irresistible and I felt my core ache from desire. He was effortlessly beautiful; he barely had any accessories save for his bandanna and belt which had leather straps running over his shoulders and holding his swords in a criss-cross effect over his shell. He wore nothing to restrict his movements, there was no need. His manhood was tucked away so that he almost looked sexless.

I thought about that big green member and my thoughts took a more heated turn as I remembered Mikey disturbing us earlier in the day.

It seemed like ages had past; as if the day had lasted forever. So much had happened.

I turned my face towards him and caught him smiling affectionately at me. Grinning, I kissed his beak and felt his face meld with mine for a deep, revitalising kiss. He breathed into me as he kissed me as if delivering the kiss of life and I felt the energy from his body vibrating through me.

Straddling him, I continued to kiss him and my hands caught his face as I tried to make us as one, my whole body trying to capture him and draw him into me. Without missing a beat, he ran his fingers along my thighs and returned the ferocity with an unrelenting pace. I could barely breathe for his passion and exuberance as our tongues danced with each other seductively.

He lay me down onto the carpet and undressed me with ease. There was no hesitation this time. No little brother disturbing the moment. As I lay naked and wanting beneath him and he lowered himself gently, I knew this was the moment we had both been waiting for.

Gasping at the sensation of being filled I watched his eyes carefully as he plunged as deeply as he could go. We remained there for several moments, not moving. Our eyes locked onto each other. The feel of him inside me was exquisite. His eyes were boring into mine and we lay like that, content to merely be joined. Not feeling the need to rush things or finish quickly. My inner core burned with need and I allowed it to continue, this desperate fire spreading from between my legs as his member waited so patiently. Then, he moved out of me rapidly and plunged back in. I cried out with the pleasure spiking to unbearable levels, Leo clamping a stifling maw over my mouth to drown out my moans. The pleasure crested and I cried out as my body reached gratification, reaching for him as I shivered and trembled in completion.

Leo stilled for a moment, allowing the waves of orgasm to flood through me, merely watching as I gasped and my face reddened. I splayed out on the carpet as a warm afterglow descended. I closed my eyes for a moment and relished the feeling of him still inside me.

Then the shock as Leo pulled out of me with one stroke, only to slam back inside. I shuddered, my body exploding into yet another orgasm as my eyes flew open and his mouth sought mine again to kiss me through waves of further pleasure. He was in complete control, his body seeking to further my enjoyment but I knew he needed his release. I felt his member thrust with more urgency within me, the trembling that had begun to come over him as he suddenly gasped with surprise and ecstasy. He stayed there, trembling quietly, his eyes tightly closed as he regained his composure.

He pulled out of me gently and rolled onto his side as he gazed at me tenderly. His arm circled me, pulling my back against his plastron and we lay curled up together as the blissful haze turned to sleepiness. My eyes were hardly able to keep awake as his fingers brushed my stomach and his mouth kissed the nape of my neck.

Even through the carpet was uncomfortably thread-bare, I felt an overwhelming cosiness and protectiveness from my green protector wrapped up beside me.

I felt the whole day's tension completely drain as we lay, complete as two beings ever could be, our sighs becoming soft snores as the day faded away into restless dreams.

As I lay naked and wanting beneath him and he lowered himself gently, I knew this was the moment we had both been waiting for. His throbbing cock filled me slowly and completely, the whole of him stretching my inner muscles to accommodate his size.

Then, he moved out of me rapidly. His cock quivered on the outer walls of my vagina for barely a moment before he plunged back inside me.

I cried out with the pleasure spiking to unbearable levels.

Again, he pulled out and then plunged in. I felt his member moving as if it had a mind of its own, twitching and throbbing as he gained speed. The feel of his manhood was incredible as the outer layer of skin fanned out inside the vaginal tunnel to push against the walls, tenderly stroking and tickling me from within.

The pleasure crested and I cried out as my body reached gratification, reaching for him as I shivered and trembled in completion.

His control was unbelievable for such a novice. He was in complete control, his body seeking to further my enjoyment but I knew he needed his release. I felt his member thrust with more urgency within me, the trembling that had begun to come over him as he suddenly gasped with surprise and ecstasy. I felt his organ release its treasures into me like a fountain and I felt myself orgasm in response, once again the climax hitting me like a hammer and draining me of all my strength.

He pulled out of me gently and rolled onto his side as he gazed at me tenderly. His arm circled me, pulling my back against his plastron and we lay curled up together as the blissful haze turned to sleepiness.
